Pain in the back, arm and finger?

Can anybody help. My husband has been having excruciating pain in his shoulder, back, arm and fingers. He also has tingling in his fingers. He has been to the doctors but the co-codamol don't seem to help. I have tried aromatherapy mages, hotwater-bottles, and Deep Heat, tonight I might knock him on the head because he can't sleep, so I can't sleep!
