Attack of white noise... help pls?

I hear white noise all day everyday, I've gotten used to it over the years, However, recently I spent the night over my Dad's and I went to bed in the bedroom. The noise was an insane loudness. It seemed like that was the only room in which had that.... much... anyways anyone know why?
