Why do some people hate brand name clothing?

Hi, im from Sina Loa,Mexico and I moved here to the states about 1 year ago, and the way people dress in Sina Loa is different, for example In Sina Loa people wear Burberry,True Religion,Ed Hardy,Ferrari,Gucci,Prada,Creative Recreation etc.,(which is what i wear now) While here in the U.S. some people seem to frown upon people who wear these brands, why is this?
