My husband is a Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. Very loving mostly, but when he is short tempered.?

He gets mad for the tiniest things, and 90% of the time i dont know what the deal is. he started by throw things arnd, and then throwing me. he made sure i had a soft landing like a bed or somehting. that was 4 yrs ago. since then it has slowly escalated - although infrequent, on an average 2-3 times a year he's abusive. iniitally he'd just shove. then 2 days after our wedding, he slapped me as i was upset he cancelled our honeymoon. he made up with fabulous trips later and always is remorseful when he gets violent. but lately he's gotten worse and is showing less remorse. last time he pushed me down and stepped on my chest with his foot. today he slapped me many times when i was in the shower, pushed me out of the bathroom and shoved me down to the floor. on the way i hit the bed and have a bleeding lip. he's so loving typically and people envy us, but he's a different person when he loses his temper. what do i do?
