Are the Jews that were born in Palestine before 1948 Zionists?

I understand that Zionism is a political movement to support a homeland for Jewish people. Am I correct in my understanding that Jews that had lived in Europe and North America would support Zionism for Israel to be their homeland, but what about the Jews and their descendants that have always lived in Palestine and what is now Israel? Would they be Zionists also? If they have lived there for centuries, they had their homeland and would not have to support a movement to have a homeland. Opinions plz and thank you.
